Contemporary reinterpretation of the iconographic calvary

Candy Calvary is a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconographic Calvary. I played on the contrast between the symbolic weight of the subject and its aesthetic. By combining a soft, almost childlike pink with contemporary styling and set design, I challenge the solemnity of the icon and offer a different reading. The work thus creates a tension between its sacred subject and its contemporary appearance, questioning how deeply rooted images can be transformed or desacralized through current visual codes.
